The global onboard connectivity market reached $10.4B in 2024 and is projected to exceed $35.6B by 2034 (GM Insights). Across aviation, rail and maritime, operators are investing fast in innovative infrastructures like satellites, LEO, 5G, hybrid architectures to improve connectivity access.

Connectivity is a heavy commitment: equipment, certification, downtime, recurring bandwidth costs, support, getting up to millions per fleet. Yet value generation often stalls because operators don’t control the levers that drive adoption and conversion: access rules, packaging, pricing, upgrades, and the ability to test-and-learn by route or passenger profile.

The experience gap

On the ground, users are accustomed to instant loading, stable sessions, familiar journeys and expect the same experience onboard. However, onboard reality is different: limited capacity, high latency, handovers and dropouts makes the experience more challenging. Without a layer designed for those constraints, friction becomes the default and friction kills engagement, and can affect ultimately the operator ROI.

That’s why the Wi-Fi portal can’t be treated as a simple “login page”. It is the digital governance layer between connectivity infrastructure and passengers, the layer that lets operators orchestrate:

  • Value Generation (access models, offers, payments, QoS)
  • Passenger Experience (performance, continuity, branded journey)
  • Data Governance (control and optimisation)
