Moment Introduces Automatic Passenger Announcement Pause Function on Flymingo

Moment releases pioneering technology at Aviation Festival Asia

Moment has unveiled a groundbreaking technology at the Aviation Festival Asia, making its portable W-IFE solution easier and safer for airlines. Flymingo Box now includes an automatic passenger announcement pause, a feature that allows the IFE streaming system to pause for PA announcements without requiring crew or pilot intervention.

Automatic passenger announcement pause: industry-first technology

This evolution, which utilizes proprietary technology, is available on any Flymingo Box connected to the aircraft's electrical network. This industry-first solution works by picking up signals from the passenger announcement system.

"This is a long-awaited product feature. Airlines came to us because they wanted a fully automated way to comply with passenger announcement regulations. Flymingo Box now enables our customers to address safety standards while offering streaming for up to 100 passengers," said Tanguy Morel, CEO at Moment.

A crew-friendly service

This development highlights Flymingo’s expanded capabilities and the value of options for airlines aiming to provide smooth usage for crew members while deploying a flexible IFE service.

Flymingo Box: fully monitored via dedicated mobile application

Flymingo Box can be entirely monitored via a dedicated mobile application. Crew members can access a dashboard on their electronic devices to oversee and control the service. The application allows flight attendants to view the Wi-Fi status, check the number of connected devices, and even receive orders. Flymingo Crew Application is available on any electronic device and has an Apple Watch version.

Flymingo Box: an aircraft-powered device

Earlier in 2018, Moment set up a partnership with a DOA partner to develop a new version of Flymingo Box as an aircraft-powered portable wireless solution. This option allows the Flymingo Box to connect to the aircraft’s power system.

The connected version of Flymingo Box involves bracing the streaming unit in a certified cradle. Developed with Moment’s engineering partner, this solution ensures the wireless device is cost-effective and flexible, catering to airlines' needs for streamlined operations.

Moment’s expansion: new IFE equipment for European airlines

Moment was selected to provide this new-featured IFE equipment to four European airlines. Flymingo Box will be installed on thirty A320 and A321 aircrafts by mid-2019.
